Birmingham City must not let these 2 transfer scenarios happen next month

Birmingham City must do all they can to make sure they keep their brightest talents at the club

Highlights

Birmingham City must keep Jordan James in January to avoid a disaster.

The club hopes Jay Stansfield won't be recalled by Fulham to maintain their attacking threat.

Birmingham's recent win at Cardiff City gives them much-needed confidence for the busy festive period.

With the January transfer window just a matter of weeks away, Birmingham City will be doing all they can to ensure they're in the strongest position possible on February 1st.

The Blues have struggled for form in recent times, but a win away at Cardiff City in midweek will give the club some much-needed confidence ahead of a busy festive period.

Wayne Rooney's side have some very good players on their books, and they can't afford to lose them if they're to have a successful second-half of the campaign.

Here are the two transfer scenarios Birmingham City cannot let happen next month...

Birmingham City cannot sell Jordan James in January

19-year-old Welsh International James has attracted the interest of a number of clubs in recent times, thanks to his performances on the international stage.

The likes of Bologna and Leicester City were said to be interested in James back in April, according to Alan Nixon, while Everton, Blackburn Rovers and Italian side Leece were said to be interested in the summer, according to The Sun and the Birmingham Mail.

Related Nikola Zigic was a big-money signing for Birmingham City and there is debate about whether he was a success.

The midfielder found game time hard to come by under previous manager John Eustace, but has had a more prominent role in the side under Wayne Rooney.

James has been a big fan of playing under Rooney, telling the Birmingham Mail last month: “Individually, it suits me a lot better. We want to get it into the midfielders, get it into the two tens, and hurt teams, and that’s where I feel the most comfortable, getting on the ball on the half-turn and playing those passes through, and it really suits me.

"For me, it has been quite easy because since growing up, all you ever do is learn to play football on the deck and play the way the Man Citys play. For me, it has been quite an easy transition but you’ve got players who have found it hard because they’ve played a certain way for a long time.”

This should be a relief for Birmingham fans. Losing the youngster in January would be an absolute disaster for the Blues.

Birmingham City must hope Jay Stansfield is not recalled by Fulham

Jay Stansfield

The Fulham loanee has been one of the Blues' main threats in front of goal this season and is popular amongst the coaching staff and supporters.

Fulham had struggled for goals earlier on in the season and were one of the division's lowest scorers, leading to concerns that the Cottagers would recall Stansfield in January to help bolster their attack.

However, the West London club seemed to have clicked in recent weeks, finding their goal-scoring boots as they recorded two consecutive 5–0 wins in the Premier League, helping to allay fears that Stansfield might be recalled next month.

Every club knows of the risks of players being recalled when it comes to making loan signings. Birmingham will hope that Fulham continue to rack up the goals and that Stansfield remains a Blues player come the start of February.
